What it is
Club Gemini describes itself as Melbourne’s longest established adult and swingers parties, operating since 1990. In a scene where venues open and close inside a couple of years, three and a half decades is the single most striking fact about it.
It runs from its own premises, which the club calls Gemini House, rather than hiring space per event. The format is a themed Saturday night party rather than a weekly bar calendar — fewer events, each with more built around it.
Event types
The published calendar runs to roughly one or two Saturdays a month, each with a theme. Listings across the current schedule have included a rodeo night, a Halloween party and a Christmas party, alongside undated regular Saturday events.

Who it’s for
This is where Club Gemini differs most from the lifestyle bars, and it matters if you’ve found other Melbourne venues closed to you.
The club states that it screens couples, single men and single ladies to ensure they meet a level of suitability. In other words single men are not excluded by default, as they largely are elsewhere in Melbourne — they go through the same vetting as everyone else.
That makes Club Gemini one of the few Melbourne operators where a single man has a route in to regular events rather than a handful of nominated nights. What the vetting involves is the club’s own process; ask them.
One rule worth knowing: couples who arrive together must leave together.
Entry and practicalities
- Entry closes at 11:00pm, with the evening generally winding up around 1:30am. As with the other Melbourne venues, the door time is not flexible.
- It’s BYO. The club invites guests to bring their own beer, wine or spirits — unlike the licensed lifestyle bars, where you buy at the bar. Budget accordingly, and it’s a genuine cost difference over a night.
- Vetting applies to everyone, including couples. Approach it as an application rather than a ticket purchase.
- The club publishes its own etiquette page. Read it before a first visit; it’s the authoritative version of what’s expected.
What to expect
We haven’t attended, and we don’t publish claims about a room we haven’t verified. What the club’s own material establishes is a dedicated multi-room venue with an outdoor area, run to a themed Saturday schedule, with a screened guest list and a published etiquette code.
The venue also offers private hire, which tells you something about the scale of the space.
Who it suits
Single men, more than anywhere else we cover. If you’ve been frustrated by Melbourne’s access rules, this is the operator most worth approaching — through their vetting, properly, rather than turning up.
People who prefer an event to a bar night. A themed party once or twice a month is a different proposition from a weekly calendar, and it suits people who’d rather plan around a date than drop in.
People comfortable with BYO. No bar list, no cocktail menu — bring what you want to drink.
It suits people wanting a casual midweek drink least: there isn’t one. The model is the Saturday party.
